Funny poem!!

This story is not about Iran or Canada. Actually it’s related to English language. I wrote it because I remembered that as a funny story.

When I was in Iran, I attended English classes to improve my skills. There were no similarities between those classes and EAP, because rules, works, students and also teachers weren’t as serious as here. So we had a lot of fun in classes.

One day our lesson was about words which rhyme. It means that the words which have the same last sound like ‘blue’ and ‘flew’. After trying to find a rhyme for some words, our teacher asked us to write a short poem at rhyme. Although it was hard for me to do, it was a good practice.

This was my poem:

I’m so chubby, I love honey, so I’m funny, take it easy!
Mine is ugly, yours is pretty, but it’s silly, take it easy!
I’m too busy, but I’m lazy, so I’m crazy, take it easy!
I got fifty out of fifty, so I’m nifty, take it easy!

I wrote that with the helps of my sister and her friend!
If you have time, try it. You will have an enjoyable time!!

New Life Style

My parents have begun their research for buying a house in Calgary. From that time, we figured out new things about housing market which are totally different from Iran.

Anyone who has moved to a different country with different culture should adapt some new systems. One of the most significant parts of these changes is getting used to the new life style. Living in dissimilar urban structures is an example of changing the methods of living. I heard, generally people in China live in small house with small rooms or Iranian people as another pattern normally live in different types of apartments. However, here I think that for both Chinese and Iranian, living in multi-level houses is completely a new opportunity. Another experience that I got here is that most of the houses in new neighbourhoods are very similar, so this would be a new chance for Iranian people who are living in Calgary as well. In Iran, there are few communities that have similar buildings, but in most of streets you can find variety of apartments or sometimes houses. For example, one with four floors and one with six floors. There is a debate that although the ways of living here have some benefits for people, they decrease the social interactions between people.
We really like to get more and more experiences here and compromise ourselves with new methods of life.

Iranian Artists!!

It was very impressive for me when I hear news about two Iranian artists in one month.

At February, 12 about Hossein Alizadeh:

Hossein Alizadeh, one of the most famous Iranian musicians had a live concert with renowned Armenian instrumentalist in Iran. This year, the recording of that show was one of five Grammy Award nominees for “Best Traditional World Music.” Alizadeh, a well-known composer and a master of Persian instruments like “tar”, was nominated for Grammy three times.

At February, 17 about Reza Naji:

Reza Naji won a sliver bear prize for best actor at the Berlin International Film Festival. He had a role in “The Song of Sparrows” which is directed by a famous Iranian film director, Majid Majidi. The film is about the group of children who lose their gold fish, their happiness and sadness and he is the one who tries to soothe and relieve them. After receiving the prize, he said: “I feel so happy to overcome the world’s great super stars and make Iran famous.”

I really proud of these achivements by Iranian artistics!!

Hi everyone!!!

Finally, after five weeks, I found time to see my classmates’ blogs. It was really shocking for me to see some students have posted five or six entries and I haven’t written anything yet. Dealing with tight schedule is the reason for my delay. Any ways, I decided to work on my blog during Reading Week.
For starting, I want to say why I chose this title for my blog. I believe that living in different country with different custom is like being newly born. This is very tough to manage and prepare yourself to make compromise. Obviously, these changes teach you something completely new; likewise make you to lose some of your own interesting traditions. I’ve found this blog as a good opportunity to remain involved with my own culture and become familiar with Canadian culture in order to share some of them with you.
I hope that you enjoy!!!
